WHERE WE STAND
RIVER WESTLAKE BAPTIST CHURCH
We stand on the fact that God came to earth as Jesus Christ, who was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again to defeat death. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us” – John 1:14a. “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. “…but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” – Hebrews 9:26b.
We stand on the fact that God expects us to believe this Gospel, and if we do, He saves us from our sins. “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” – Acts 16:31. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9.
We stand on the fact that hell is eternal separation from God and is a place of everlasting physical torment. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” – Matthew 25:41. “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” – Revelation 14:11.
We stand on the fact that the great commission, which is spreading God’s word to every creature, is a command, not just a suggestion. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15.

About Our Music
O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
– Psalm 95:1 –
At River Westlake Baptist Church we sing hymns. You’ll hear hymns such as “Jesus Saves,” “Victory In Jesus,” “Blessed Assurance,” “Ring The Bells Of Heaven,” “Amazing Grace,” “At The Cross,” etc, etc.
We sing to the Lord because the entire point of singing is to honor, please and praise God, not to glorify ourselves.
You won’t find a drum set or a rock concert at River Westlake Baptist Church, and we will never, ever, sing Hillsong or Bethel Music.
Why? Come by and ask.
Here is an example of the actual congregational singing at
River Westlake Baptist Church:
Church attendance is as vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man.
